Record a court order

Court order can include adjudications and findings, legal status records, TPR for an adoption case, and other linked court actions.

If you want to record a new court order that is automatically linked to an existing court action, see Record a linked court action.

Follow these steps to record a court order.   

  1. From the Home screen, select the case you want to update. The Case Overview screen appears.

  2. Click Court in the link menu. The Case Members Legal History screen appears.

  3. Click the Case Court Actions link above the case header. The Case Court Actions screen appears.

  4. Enter search criteria to find the existing pleading and click Search. The matching court actions appear in the results grid.

  5. If the correct court order record already exists, click select to update the record. The Court Order Details screen appears.

    If the court order does not exist, select Court Order in the Action Category list and click Add Action. The Court Order Details screen appears.

  6. Complete the required fields:

    Court Order Type
      
    Date Order Signed
       

  7. Complete other information as appropriate.

  8. (Optional) Click  Add Adjudication/Finding to add an adjudication or finding to this court order. The Adjudication/Court Finding Details screen appears.

  9. (Optional) Click Add Legal Status to add a legal status to this court order.

  10. (Optional) Link a court action by selecting the type in Link Court Action and clicking Add Action.  

  11. Click the Court/Attorney Info link to record the court and attorney details for the pleading. The Court screen appears.

  12. Select the County and Court.

  13. Complete other information as appropriate.

  14. To add an attorney, select the Type and click Person Search. Select the person who is the attorney and return to the Court screen.

  15. In the Represents list, select the appropriate case member.

  16. Click Add to add the attorney detail to the record.

  17. Click Save. You are returned to the Case Court Actions screen.
