Link an Investigation to a Case
TFACTS provides the users the ability to link an open CPS Investigation, CPS Assessment or Resource Linkage case to an existing On-Going/Family Case, a newly created On-Going/Family Case or an existing open Adoption Case. Before the CPS Case can be linked to a Family Case, all intake participants must be established under Investigation Persons.
Link an Investigation to an existing Family Case.
Access the Investigation Topics page.
Click Link Investigation to Case. This will open the Link Case screen.
Note: If any of the investigation persons is a case member of an existing case then those cases will be listed on the Link Case screen with the option to link to them. If no cases are listed then a new Family Case will need to be created.
Click [+] to the left of the case to view a list of Case Members with DOB and Relationship to case reference person. Click [+] to collapse the list of case members.
To view/review a case, prior to linking to it, click the Case Name. This will open the case to be reviewed and you can click Close on the Case Overview page to return to the Link Case screen.
Case Status will display if the case is open or closed and the Status Date will be the date of the last Case Status change.
Organization lists the current responsible region for the case.
Click link to link the investigation to the appropriate case.
On the Link Existing Case screen choose the appropriate action from the dropdown list for each person not listed as Already Exists In Case. The options in the dropdown list are:
Add as Case Member
Add as Associated Person
Do not Add to Case
Note: The dropdown list will not be available when linking to an open Adoption case. The ACV will be listed as Already Exists In Case and the other persons will be listed as Adoption Case (Cannot Add).
Click Save once all selections are made. This opens the Investigation Topics page.
The investigation is now linked to the case and the case ID is listed under Status for the Link Investigation to Case. Clicking this link and then clicking the appropriate Case Name will open the Family or Adoption case.
Link an investigation to a newly created On-Going/Family Case.
Access the Investigations Topics page.
Click Link Investigation to Case.
From the Link Case page, click Create Case.
A list of participants is generated and by default they will all be added as case members to the new case, unless the selection is changed to Associated Person.
Highlight the Case Reference Person.
Select the Responsible County from the dropdown list.
Click Save. The new case will be listed in the Link Case list.
Click Close to be returned to the Investigations Topics page.
