Add a child to an existing adoption case
Children may be added to an existing adoption case if they are siblings from the same originating case as the adopted children. For example, if John and Sue Jones were previously removed from the original Jones case and a new sibling is available for adoption, this child may be added to the sibling's existing open adoption case. The child you are adding must be available for adoption, and the legal status must be "DCS Full Guardianship." See also Create an adoption case.
Add a child to an existing adoption case as follows:
From the Home screen, click the Case tab. The Case Workload screen appears.
Click the case number ID link for the original case in which the child is a member. The Case Overview screen appears.
Click Adoption in the link menu. The Child Members screen appears. The children listed on this screen are available for adoption and have a legal status of "Permanent Custody."
Select the check box next to each child you want to add to an existing adoption case.
In the Existing Adoption Case field, select the case reference person of the adoption case to which you want to add the children.
Click Add Child. The system displays a message notifying you that the children you selected will be removed permanently from the original family case.
Click OK to move the children from the original case to the adoption case.
The children are moved into the adoption case and are deactivated as case members in the original case with the deactivation reason of "Moved to Adoption Case." The date of deactivation is the date the child was moved into the adoption case.
