Amend a pleading petition or motion

Most information in a court action record may be updated before the file date stamp or journalized date has been recorded. Once that date is entered and saved, the record becomes a court document and no changes may be made to it. For pleading records, however, you can record an amendment to add more information.

Follow these steps to record an amendment to a pleading.

  1. From the Home screen, click the Case tab. The Case Workload screen appears.

  2. Click the case ID number link for the case you want to update. The Case Overview screen appears.

  3. Click Court in the link menu. The Case Members Legal History screen appears.

  4. Click the Case Court Actions link at the top of the screen. The Case Court Actions screen appears.

  5. Enter search criteria to find the existing pleading and click Search. The matching court actions appear in the results grid.

  6. Click the amend link for the pleading record. The Pleading Details screen appears.

  7. Record the information on this screen to identify the amendment details.

  8. Click Save. You are returned to the Case Court Actions screen.

The system adds a new pleading record that contains the amendment details. The original record displays Amended in the Additional Information column of the search results grid.
