Associate Case
On this screen you select the two cases to be associated, or merged, together.
When you associate two cases, they are treated as companion cases. One case is the primary and the other is the companion. The primary case can be maintained in the system as needed; the companion case is frozen and may not be updated. If you are viewing the primary case, you can also view details for the companion case.
When you merge two cases, the system moves data from the secondary case into the primary case. The secondary case is not longer available in the system for maintenance or viewing. You would merge two cases when duplicate cases are discovered.
Companion and merged cases can be unlinked from the primary case.
Note the following rules about companion and merged cases:
When an "unrestricted" case is linked to a "restricted" case, the primary case becomes restricted. Only workers with security rights to view restricted cases may view the case.
A case can only be merged as a duplicate if the secondary case has a status of "Closed."
Once a case has been associated for reason of ”r;Duplicate” the associated case is no longer available in any searches. You cannot link a new intake to a case that has been associated as a duplicate.
Click Search Case to select the primary or companion case.
Click Associate Cases to complete the companion or merge process.
Link case records to merge or create companion cases
