Recommend the response priority for a CPS intake
An intake worker uses the Priority Tool to determine the appropriate priority that a CPS Intake should be assigned. This priority assignment must be reviewed by a specialist. The Priority Tool helps the screener to determine whether to expedite contact with the identified family. The Priority Tool questionnaire is in four parts:
Physical abuse
Medical neglect and psychological harm
Other neglect
Sexual abuse
After you complete the questionnaire, an intake specialist or intake supervisor reviews the recommended priority. If the specialist rejects the recommended priority, the specialist or supervisor must select a different priority and document the reason.
Follow these steps to use the Priority Tool to recommend a track for a CPS intake .
On the Home screen, click the Intake tab. The CPS Intake Workload screen appears.
Filter the intake results click the select link for the intake record you want to update. The CPS Intake screen appears
Click the Priority Tool tab.
Under Priority Details, click one of the links for the questionnaire:
Physical abuse
Medical neglect & psychological harm
Neglect
Sexual abuse
The questionnaire screen for the topic appears.
Answer each question on the questionnaire based on your work on the intake.
If you cannot answer all the questions now, click Apply and Close. The system saves the current answers and you can return to this questionnaire later to finish it.
Select the answer for the first question, and then click Next Question.
Answer the next question and click Next Question. Continue this process until you have answered all questions.
As you do this, the system calculates the priority. If you use the Previous Question button to return to a prior question, and then change the answer, the system displays a message indicating the consequences of the change.
The system determines whether the answers provide sufficient data to determine a priority. If the system has sufficient data, the system derives the priority from the answers and displays ”COMPLETE” on the screen. The system also enters the priority in the Recommended Priority field on the Priority Tool tab.
Click Close.
Click Save. You are returned to the CPS Intake screen.
