Select CANS participants

Process: Record a CANS assessment

You select one case member as the primary child in the assessment and up to four additional members (caregivers) as household participants. Please make sure your identified household caregivers are adults.

Follow these steps to select the child and other participants in the assessment.

1. Click the CANS CANS stands for Child and Adolescent Need and Strengths. CANS is a tool that identifies and ranks strengths and needs of children. Participant(s) tab. This screen shows the potential participants in the assessment. By default, each person is designated as a non-participant.

2. In the Child column, click the option field for one person who is the child participating in the assessment.  

3. In the Household column, click the option field for the members who will be the household caregiver participants.

4. Click a name link to view details for the person if necessary. The Person Profile appears. Click Close to return to the CANS CANS stands for Child and Adolescent Need and Strengths. CANS is a tool that identifies and ranks strengths and needs of children. Participant(s) tab.

5. Click Apply.       

6. Click Next Task> below to continue.
