Unlink an investigation from a case

If an investigation has been linked to the wrong case, it may be unlinked. Investigations which are unlinked must then be linked to the correct case. If the correct case is not in the system, you will be required to create a new case after unlinking.

Follow these steps to unlink an investigation from a case.

  1. From the Home Workload screen select the case you want to update. The Case Overview screen appears.

  2. Click Investigations Linked in the blue left menu. The Investigations Linked screen appears.

  3. Locate the investigation to unlink and click unlink. A window pops-up saying "After unlink, this Investigation must have a Primary Case Worker and should have a CPS Case Manager assigned to it before it can be linked to a family case.  Are you sure that you want to unlink this Investigation?  Click OK to continue."

  4. Click OK.  If the investigation cannot be unlinked an error message pops-up stating the reason.

  5. Once the investigation has been unlinked from the case, the system requires you to link it to the correct case. The Link Investigation to Case screen appears. See Link an investigation to a case.
