A Family Service Worker or other worker documents initial and all subsequent service information for each member in the case. Services include all activities performed by DCS or private resources for the purpose of providing, recording and supervising services to a person, Services may involve a child, parents, guardians, custodians, caretakers, or the resource home. The worker records services, which are tracked from initial intake through case closure, regardless of entry point into the Department.
Case services
Case services are recorded whenever the need for them has been identified during the life of a case. Accurately recording the service provided, as well as the family's barriers, allows the agency to measure the effectiveness of a service in addressing the specific concern. Three categories of services are:
Needed - The worker identified a service that should be provided to the family or individual.
Planned - The worker is making arrangements to provide the service to the family or individual.
Provided - A service for which a provider has been attached on the family's or individual's record.
Paid services are always assigned to individual case members. Unpaid services may be assigned to case member groups, if applicable. In either situation, you view the details of a service record only from the Case Services list screen.
Paid services must be recorded separately for each person in the case. See Record case services for individuals. The narrative may be applied to all case members. This method of entering services ensures that the reports present an accurate reflection of service provision reported to the federal government. Unpaid services, however, may be assigned to a group of case members. See Record case services for a group of case members.
