ASFA Review

Ensure federal guidelines for the Adoption and Safe Families Act are taken into consideration.

Process Overview

Follow these steps to create an ASFA Review Note in a family case:

  1. From the Home Workload screen, select an ongoing case. The Case Overview screen appears.

  2. Click ASFA Review in the blue left link menu.  The ASFA Review screen appears.

  3. Click the Add Note button to initiate the creation of a new ASFA Review note.  The ASFA Review Details page appears.

  4.  'ASFA Review' is populated as the Conference Type.  No other conference types are documented in this screen.

  5. Enter the Conference Date. The current date will be the default.  The date can be changed to an earlier date, but cannot be changed to a future date.

  6. Select the appropriate value for 'Exception to File TPR'.  Values are: Compelling Reason Exists, No Compelling Reason Exists, and TPR Has Been Filed.

  7. If 'Compelling Reason Exists' or 'No Compelling Reason Exists'  is selected, then Expiration Date is required in order to save the ASFA Review record

  8.   At least one Case Conference Participant must be added to the ASFA Review note.

  9.  Narrative is required to save the ASFA Review record.

10.  Click Team Leader Reviewed check box.

11.  Status of the ASFA Review record defaults to 'Draft'. The record can be edited/updated while in Draft status.

12.  Once all required fields have been entered and no additional information needs to be added, select "Complete" from the Status drop-down list and click 'Apply' or 'Save'.

13. To add additional information to an ASFA Review record in "Complete" status, click the 'Add Addendum' button.

14. An Addendum Details window will display where Addendum Narrative is a required field.  The existing narrative also displays on the window for reference. Enter the Addendum narrative and click Save to save the update.

15. Click the View Narrative button to view the original narrative and all addendums on one page.
