Child Members (adoption) screen

This screen allows you to create a new adoption case for one of the children listed. The screen displays children who meet the requirements for associating with an adoption case. The Department must have permanent custody of any child added to an adoption case. You can also select a child, normally a sibling, from another open case and add that child to this adoption case.

If an adoption case has already been created, you can later add another child, such as a sibling, to the existing adoption case.

When you create an adoption case, the child is permanently removed from the original family case, and certain information is copied from the current case to the new adoption case. See About adoption cases.

How do I...

Fields on this screen

Name (check boxes)	Select the check box for each child you are adding to the new adoption case. The children in the grid are those who who have a legal status of "Permanent Custody" and who are active members of the case. You must select at least one child.
Case Reference Person	Select the child who is the case reference person on the new adoption case. This menu displays the same names as those shown in the Name column of the grid.
Existing Adoption Case	If you are adding the selected children to an existing adoption case, select the case name. This menu displays the case reference person of existing adoption cases with an "Open" status.

	Note
	Once you create an adoption case, you cannot reverse the action nor can you merge the case with another.
