Record a temporary break in placement

You record a temporary break for a child when a situation arises that causes the child to be absent from the substitute care setting for a period of less than 30 days and with the intent to return. Recording the leave allows workers to track where a child is physically located. The resource's capacity and availability information does not change, thus preventing the placement of another child during this period.

Follow these steps to record a child's leave from a placement.

  1. From the Home screen, click the Case tab. The Case Workload screen appears.

  2. Select the case you want to update. The Case Overview screen appears.

  3. Click the Placement link in the main link menu. The Placement Information screen appears. It displays the placement records for all the children in the case.

  4. Click the break link for the placement record you want to update. The Temporary Break in Placement screen appears.

  5. Click Add Temporary Break to record a new break in placement. The Temporary Break in Placement Details screen appears.

  6. Enter the date when the temporary break began and the type of break.

  7. If you know the date when the child should return to his or her normal placement, enter the estimated return date.

  8. Click Link Resource to select the resource where the child will be located during the temporary break.

  9. Click Save. You are returned to the Placement Leave Information screen.
